What do we mean by RAPE?
We are talking about an act:
- that is sexual in nature
- that is a profound invasion of privacy
- that always involves the destruction of someone's right to self-determination
- that happens in every country, in every town, in every village, in every slum and every high rise of our world
- that has a diversity that astounds, and a grip on our world that shocks when even a fraction of the truth is revealed
What we don't mean by RAPE
We are not talking about the rape of land or forests, or any of the other meanings of rape that are not the sexual violation of a human being. We're only speaking about a profound violation of human rights.
